Our Wedding Vows Renewed

Renewal Of Our August 8, 1987 Wedding Vows

Dear God, Thank you for your Risen Son who is the transcendent bridge for music, poetry, literature, art and eternity when we accept him and act accordingly through His gift of Grace. May I always feel at a body level the hands that are playing my cards belong to you through Jesus via the Holy Spirit. Thank you for placing Yanet in my life as my Northwestern College of Business English Teacher on September 15, 1980. I pledge to lovingly support and affirm all that my sweetheart is, now and forever. She is my model for listening, and I feel compelled to express written gratitude daily for my beloved wife. I pray that we will dance through all time in a cosmic rhyme connecting far past the sun. With faith and strength together, our love will make us one. With faith and strength together, our love will make us one.

Janet and I independently recognized that her poem Our Loving Trek, Revisited – read by Father Phillip Craig in our home July 8th as her reaffirmation of our wedding vows – and my song Twilight Love, were actually describing our courageous and loving approach to her cancer.

Silver

It surprised me when you asked

How would I end my days …

We seldom see so far ahead

Still, I would like to end them

A silvery old lady

Selling small, silver souvenirs

Souvenirs of life

In a cabin, beneath a mountain

As tall as God …

Beside a brook that will laugh

Like the children who taught me

And my days will be complete, my fellow human,

If you can say to me, in simple, silver honesty,

“You touched my life.”

Sea Scope

Where is the future?

Who holds the plan?

Questions I see

Upon the sand …

The answers await you

Read if you can,

The scarred and the curious

Hand of Man.

Snow
(Written by Janet at age 8)

As I look out my window,

I see a land of white.

The snow drifts softly down

And on throughout the night.

On waking in the morning,

I look again to see

That all the evils of the world

Are clothed in purity.

Twilight Love

I wonder why in a lullaby
Will the twilight soon disappear?
It sings to me … oh me oh my
Will the night dispel such fear?

Your shining smile is all I need
To light my entire world.
Your loving gaze can clear the haze,
My courage is unfurled.

We’ll dance through time in a cosmic rhyme
Connecting far past the sun.
With faith and strength together
Our love will make us one.

Your shining smile is all I need
To light my entire world.
Your loving gaze can clear the haze,
My courage is unfurled.

We’ll dance through time in a cosmic rhyme
Connecting far past the sun.
With faith and strength together
Our love will make us one.

With faith and strength together
Our love will make us one.

I Go

I go where my heart
Longs to lead me
I go where my soul
Wants to be

Upon the wings of a dove
My heart is soaring with love
Then the heavens above
Guide you to my hand

Across the seasons divine
I see our souls intertwine
And we will dance
For all time in love

I go to the warmth
Of your laughter
I go to the smile
In your eyes

Upon the wings of a dove
My heart is soaring with love
Then the heavens above
Guide you to my hand

Across the seasons divine
I see our souls intertwine
And we will dance
For all time in love

Take a chance
With romance
Time to dance
Time to dance

For My Sweetheart, Janet

Dawn

Sometimes at dawn I’m the only one
The muse spins her dream in my mind
I’m tuning in to a sweet serenade
The noise all around me disappears

You are the song that fills my heart
With joy and love so completely
All the music that I need sings through you
We are the tune, at dawn, at noon
All the music that I need sings through you

You are the song that fills my heart
With joy and love so completely
All the music that I need sings through you
We are the tune, at dawn, at noon
All the music that I need sings through you

Dear Janet,
It is 8-8-2020 and would be our 33rd wedding anniversary. I remain in the earthly, while your are in the heavenly realm. This poem with all of my love is for you:

My angel is beyond time …
beyond reason and beyond rhyme.
Why is it so hard
to let you go?
I gaze at the chair
And you’re not there.
My heart weeps desperate tears.
Our life, our love …
I want it back,
But you’ve moved on
And so must I.
